An  Ecolinguist Insider is someone who wants to actively support the development of Ecolinguist as a language-learning ecosystem — not just watch the Language Show, but help sustain the community, formats, and ideas behind it.

Insiders support the project so that the Language Show, open educational content, and community spaces can continue to exist and evolve. In return, they get access to shared spaces inside Ecolinguist Academy, early or extended access to selected formats, and the opportunity to take part more closely in the life of the project.

Frequently asked questions

Who can be an Ecolinguist Insider?

Anyone who supports the project in a meaningful way — financially, through community work (eg. Discord moderation), or by taking part in the show or its development.

How is this different from Patreon or YouTube Membership?

Yes — the way you support the project can be different, but it leads to the same place.
You can still support the project via Patreon or YouTube memberships if that’s easier for you. Because this is a one-person operation, most shared spaces now live inside Ecolinguist Academy to keep the workload sustainable. If you’re a Patreon supporter or a YT member, just let me know and I’ll give you access to the Ecolinguist Insiders spaces.

Is this the same as subscribing to a course or Conversation Lab?

No.
Subscriptions give you access to specific learning programmes (such as Conversation Labs).
Supporting Ecolinguist as an Insider helps maintain and grow the broader project — including free public content, new formats, and long-term development that doesn’t fit neatly into a course model.

Do I have to participate actively, or can I just observe?

You can absolutely just observe. Participation is always optional. You’re welcome to listen in, watch live sessions, and take things at your own pace. If and when you feel like joining in, you can — but there’s no expectation to speak or be on camera.

Can I support the project without joining the Academy platform?

Yes. You can support the project through Patreon, YouTube memberships, or a one-time donation without joining the Academy platform. You can also participate in the Language Show without being part of the Academy.

If you’d like to take part in the show but not join the Academy, just let me know upfront or when you’re invited. In that case, we’ll simply communicate by email.

Is Ecolinguist Insiders focused on specific languages?

No — the Insiders space supports the project as a whole.
You’re welcome to support the project with a particular language in mind, but I can’t guarantee when or how often that language will appear. Episodes depend on speaker availability and long coordination processes.

If you mainly want to support a specific language, a course focused on that language (where available) is the most direct option. Supporting Ecolinguist Insiders is best suited to people who want to help the entire project grow across many languages.

Are all Insiders paying supporters?

No. Some Insiders support the project financially, while others contribute in different ways — for example as moderators, collaborators, past or invited participants, or people helping coordinate the project. What they all have in common is active involvement and trust, not payment.

Can I cancel or step back at any time?

Yes. You can step back or stop supporting at any time. There’s no long-term commitment, and you’re free to leave or rejoin whenever it feels right for you.
If you’re contributing financially on a monthly basis, you can manage or cancel your subscription via My Account in the menu bar.
