It’s easy to lose touch with a language.

Maybe weekly lessons are too expensive or hard to fit into your schedule.
A few weeks off, and suddenly speaking Czech feels awkward again.
At the same time, finding good content to listen to on your own can be overwhelming — too fast, too random, too advanced.

Frequently asked questions

01. Do I need to already know Czech to join?

This program is best suited for learners at an intermediate or conversational level. If you’re a beginner, you might find it challenging without prior exposure to Czech. However, if you already understand some spoken Czech but struggle to speak naturally, this program is for you!

02. How much time do I need to dedicate to this program?

It depends on your pace! Most learners spend 13 hours per week working through the materials. However, you can go faster or slower depending on your schedule.
If you ever need to take a break or skip a week, no problem—you can start fresh with the new topic the following week and come back to the one you missed whenever you’re ready. The program is designed to be flexible and forgiving, so you can stay on track without pressure.

03. Is there an instructor, or is this self-study?

The Czech Conversation Lab is instructor-led, meaning that all materials are created by a real teacher (Vít 🤓) who also guides the community, answers questions, and ensures structured learning. However, the program is not based on 1-on-1 tutoring—it’s designed for self-paced, guided learning with community and instructor support.

04. What kind of listening practice does this program offer?

You’ll train with story-driven, natural-sounding Czech audio designed to improve comprehension in realistic, everyday scenarios. The materials provide structured context, so you don’t just hear Czech—you learn how to react and participate in conversations.

05. Can I join at any time, or do I need to wait for a start date?

Yes — you can join anytime once the Lab has launched. There’s no fixed start date, so you can jump in whenever it suits you.

When you join, you’ll get access to the current week’s materials plus everything released so far. The community and my responses will focus on the theme of the week, so questions about older topics may take a little longer to answer.

All past topics stay open, and you can study at your own pace while still following the rhythm of new weekly updates.

06. What if I don't like the theme of the week?

That’s completely fine! You don’t have to follow each topic in order — if one doesn’t interest you, just skip it and come back later.

All previous themes stay available, so you can always return to what feels most useful or inspiring.

Each topic is carefully chosen by Vít. Most themes come from real questions and community suggestions, so your feedback helps shape what comes next.

If you join early, you’ll help build the growing library from the very start — and have a say in the direction the Lab takes.

07. Can I cancel my membership at any time?

Yes, you can cancel your membership at any time to stop future payments. However, please note that:

  • I do not offer pro-rata refunds for unused time if you cancel partway through a billing period.
  • As per standard consumer protection laws, you’re entitled to a full refund within 14 days of purchase.

If you're unsure or need help, just reach out and I’ll be happy to guide you.

08. Why isn’t there an annual membership option available?

For now, memberships are monthly to keep things flexible and low-risk — for both you and me.

The Lab is a solo-led project, and the monthly format lets me adapt content week by week based on your feedback, while keeping it sustainable.

You can join, pause, or leave anytime — no long-term commitment.

An annual option may come later, once the structure feels more established and predictable.

09. How do I access the materials?

All lessons, exercises, and community discussions are hosted on Ecolinguist Academy. After signing up, you’ll receive a login (if you don't have one already) and access to the course player that materials are delivered to.

10. Do I need any special software or an app?

No special software is required! You can access the Czech Conversation Lab from any device with an internet connection — laptop, tablet, or phone — directly through your browser.

Please note:

  • There’s no dedicated mobile app at the moment.

  • Most materials are mobile-friendly, but some activities work best on a larger screen (like a tablet or laptop).

  • Transcriptions are available, but not translated. You can use free online tools if you need quick translations.

For convenience, I recommend Mate Translate (free browser extension) — it lets you look up and translate text instantly. And of course, you can always ask questions directly in the discussion panel if something’s unclear.
